What's the method to how you work? what equipment? How has it changed over the years?

A lot of sysadmins like desktop computers, but we have done away with them completely. We now issue every sysadmin only a laptop (and we will provide monitors for home and work)

What we have done is invest a bunch of money into decent jump boxes. We have a few Win 2019 jump boxes with admin tools, and also do personal Win10 VMs that live in the day center for sysadmins if they want them.

We also will do a 2nd laptop if someone really needs it (for example our endpoint admins need a mac and a windows laptop).

We specifically do not allow people to use their home computers for anything work related so we will provide KVM switches if someone wants one for their home setup since we have a bunch of people with a giant monitor connecting to their home gaming rig.

We're generally doing MacBook Pros (most sysadmins) or Dell laptops.

Our view is that nothing should be running on a sysadmin desktop and as a result nobody needs one. In the past we had people who had automated scripts running there that did things, and then if they left or something happened to their computer, that functionality would be lost. Anything like that should be running as a service somewhere. If people need to do any kind of long running file copy or change (which they used to run on their desktop and take their laptop home with them) that should now be run on a server based system.
