Advice for protecting paint from tailgate awning?

We've recently bought an Olpro Cubo Breeze to put on the back of our Stepwgn and it's pretty perfect. The one downside we've come across after the first use is that where the awning meets the paintwork, it is causing scuff marks. It's not the straps (They're not touching) but the fabric of the tunnel itself.

Does anyone have any tips for circumventing this?
