Defending in OW2 feels like garbage

I have played roughly 20 matches of defending (hybrid, payload).

I have played exactly 1 match of attacking (payload, king's row)

In all of my defense games, I have lost (except for that one midtown game, but with difficulty). I managed to win my attack game with ease.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but it's much, much easier to win whenever you're attacking, and whenever you're defending, you have to have almost flawless teamwork to win a single teamfight.

Is that just me? Or...
