i fucking hate every aspect of this fight, the oneshots just because, the fact that every single stupid piece of shit attack is 3/4th of my hp bar, the dogshit ai, the motherfucking piece of shit wait for it to fall down because every stupid piece of shit move it does it will get you out of the grapple, the "break a horn so it doesnt shift elements" yet it still does because fuck you piece of shit hunter for trying to use the mechanics of the fight as theyre intended to, the fact that i had to waste almost a week of my life trying to solo this motherfucker TWICE, because the quest that the excitable a lister IS NOT THE QUEST YOU SHOULD DO, BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO DO IT ANYWAYS AND YOU UNLOCK ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR DOING SO

Oh, I remember when I felt this exact same way.

Now I still dislike Escaton Judgement, but love the rest of the fight.

Yeah if you took out Escaton Judgement I think Alatreon would be my favorite fight in the series. It feels like dance when you're locked in.

  • There are no oneshots.
  • The AI is predictable. Seriously, as hard and punishing as it is, it dances the same dance every cycle and there are ways to deal with the flying.
  • There are some select windows where it is safe to tenderize. Part of the fun is to find out. Brute force will not help you here.
  • Do you mean it shifts elements after there are no more horns to break? Because before that, it NEVER shifts.
  • I will not suck your dick, as it is surely not sanitary and I'm not interested.

Alatreon is a very fair and fun monster, aside from the fact that its Escaton move still deals damage when you've done everything right and the fact it starts shifting when you broke all the horns, which is a stupid concept.

Yeah i think the judgement shouldn't do damage after reaching the first threshold. Instead he should fail to do the move and hurt himself in the process, also preventing him from switching elements. I think that would be cool. Instead they could change his behavior the more horns you break, maybe make him more aggressive or give him different attacks or something.

Edit: I do agree OPs dick probably smells weird.

I'm unsure if OP has augmented their armour, so the attacks are maybe dealing more damage?

Nah, most of them will 2shot you, 800 to 1k def is what I would recommend, the rest is made up of a healing augment. You can go with defensive skills, but it will probably cart you on EJ since more defense = less attack and a failed dps check / no horns left to break.

On another note, have you tried Fatalis yet? Just curious...

the thing about Alatreon is not about focusing on raw defense but elemental defense, eat for Elemental res and slot in some jewels for elemental res, particularly whichever ones you are weak against, Alatreon doesnt do a ton of physical attacks but if you have any negative defense against any element, you better cover that up.

No. 99% of the fight is perfectly balanced and fair. If escaton was removed I’d easily call it the best fight in the game

Nah there are some doggy Doo Doo monsters in world. Kushala is shit, Lunastra is shit, Safijiiva is a shitter of a monster, there are some others with problems as well.

You can complain about Escaton judgement, that's valid. But don't cry about his moveset or his AI, they're perfectly fair and I'd argue he's a little TOO easy with how easy his moveset is to punish.

I don't care what anyone says. Sticky is how I will deal with God's biggest mistake from now on. He's the absolute worst fight in Iceborne (yes, worse than Lunastra and Extremoth), and I will never respect him.

Me, I'm going to use dirty tactics. Monster won't fight fair? Stunfest it is, especially Cuntala and his infinite wind aura that is utter pain for melee.

I remember feeing like this. Now I fight Alatreon as a “chill out and hunt” monster because I have his and Fatalis’ move sets down pat. I’ll help people on their special assignments. Perfectly justifiable way to feel but I would be willing to bet your feelings will change in the future. It seems like most people’s do.

You might just need better gear. I don’t fight him without blight res 3, partbreak 2, or evade ext 2. I get rid of loads of damage decos to have all that. Also, you’re fighting him with charge blade which is one of the harder weapons to fight him with. You pretty much can never use your phials because they got nerfed to hell with Alatreons special elemental damage multiplier on each weapon. Charge blade is awesome just not a good matchup. I main Switch Axe and Charge Blade and fighting him with CB made me dislike the fight a lot more.

well in terms of better gear i guess master's touch agitator secret isnt good? should i go full safi? tho the partbreaker maybe me think about trying the quest again but with said skill, might be hella useful if i get lucky with the ai
and with the cb part, yea ive pretty much noticed that but im commited to be a cb only player with this save, the only time i broke my rule was to solo for the first time velkhana and after doing so i retried with cb and i felt it was easier but dunno why lmao
my feelings about the monster will change in the future? most probably, i said in the past 5th gen mh was dogshit and i still feel the same because replaying the game from start and soloing most hunts made me realize theres actually good things in this game, sadly theyre too far in between

im a cb main since 4th gen with 1k hours in 4u and another 800 in gen and 600 in ib yet the fight is still dogshit, the monster tries to move away from you all the time and cb aint the fastest weapon so its most of the time just a game cat and mouse running behind the monster trying to deal enough damage for the dps check "mechanic" to not fuck me over

Yes, it tries to get away from you all the time. Gap closing is important and Velkhana/Shara/Furious Rajang should have taught you well. Maybe you'll find Evade Extender helpful.

Though if you're doing enough damage and just put continuous pressure on it, you'll catch it with the topple before it even flies. It's very satisfying. Did it yesterday or so with Lance and it only moved once before the topple.
