is a car with 296k miles worth it?

My dad and brother want to sell me their 2008 Lexus RX 350 for $3000. It has 296k miles on it currently and has the original engine. They bought the car last year for $4000 from the couple who were the original owners. The original owners bought it brand new. It was very well maintained with a few repairs that they provided a list for including when they got them done. They did routine oil changes and checkups. I should also add there is new $800 tires and no body damage, dents or rust.

My current car is a rusted 2006 chevy cobalt that has some issues but only 196k miles with an engine replacement 5ish years ago. A car with high mileage is a bit scary for me as I'm not very good with cars / knowing what's reliable. Is $3000 worth it for a car like that? Is there a better deal I could be getting? My car is getting rough and I'll need a new one soon (within the next year I dont think mine will survive another MN winter) any tips would be helpful!
