Maple High’s Uniforms

Whilst browsing the list of schools in GuP I came across one that stuck out in particular: Maple High School. A rather small school only being mentioned in Ribbon Warrior and other supplemental material, although their only debut had them loose to Chi-Ha Tan.

Based off of Canada (where I live) the main base they call home is Tomakomai, in Hokkaido. Whilst looking at the comic pages available on the wiki I had noticed one small detail that had gone missing: their uniforms.

To fully explain what I mean let’s look at Pravda and weather. Pravda is said to give their students jackets and vests, along with ushankas to stand up to the cold weather they fight in.

Meanwhile, Maple students are only given a white shirt, dark undershirt, and short boots. Why bring up Pravda? Well because Pravda is headquartered in Aomori, on the Japanese mainland, south of Hokkaido.

In Aomori average winter temperature is around -5C (correct me if I’m wrong) and in Tomakomai it can get around -15C, significantly colder than Aomori.

Whilst Pravda students are provided with some modicum of protection against the cold Maple students are stuck with short boots and two layers of shirts to protect them from the elements, along with this (this is just a nit picky detail) their uniforms don’t exactly fit the colour scheme of the Canadians in WWII, using white instead of brown, but I digress.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had noticed this slip in detail with Maple students not given suitable boots or jackets or if they are given such clothing although in some supplemental material I haven’t found.

I want to end this by saying I am not attacking the people behind GuP and this was more of a tangent if anything and that despite what it may seem Maple is absolutely my favourite school from GuP.
