Deliver Wooden Boards to Tree Farm Glitched?

Playing on Switch. I'm trying to complete the first tree farm quest, but can't figure out how to "deliver to the designated spot." There's a circle on the map at the entrance to the farm but nowhere to place the boards. Talking to Dawa does nothing. Notes in the Steam forums said just entering the area with the boards in your inventory should trigger a cut scene but nothing is triggering.

So far the game is fine if you overlook the complete lack of guidance for beginner players, but that plus this intro quest either being bugged or so unintuitive that I can't figure it out even by googling it is not making me feel great about dropping $30 on this game...
