Theory on Khonshu's childish tantrums and only way for him to actually mature is by changing his whole identity.

This is based on IRL Mythology of Iah, a minor Egyptian Moon God. The name literally means "Moon" but is so minor he is overshadowed by the 2 lunar dieties Khonshu and Thoth. Even Osiris. Some even fuse Iah with Osiris, creating Osiris-Iah.

But for some Iah is the adult form of Khonshu. In IRL myth Khonshu is the "child god" best represented with a sidelock to indicate his youth. So purely on that title, it makes sense that Khonshu would act like a child, because that is his whole gig.

Iah though is depicted wearing a wig, a symbol of adulthood since as a rite of passage a child losses his sidelock when he reaches puberty. Cutting away all childish tendencies to enter adult life.

If that's the case, Khonsu will need to cut off whatever his "sidelock" if he is to finally grow-up and mature. But he also looses his identity as "Khonshu" to take another name.

This concept can be integrated in the story, like Iah is a separate mature aspect of Khonsu that he suppressed due to Khonshu not exactly wanting to grow-up just yet, or a future version of him that have yet to happen, maybe few thousand years more.
