The power supply in The Indian state of Uttarakhand is already running low, with a shortfall of 1.7 million kilowatt hours on October 13. The power supply company said there would be brownouts in some areas. Thirteen power plants in Maharashtra state, home to the financial capital Mumbai, have shut down due to coal shortages, and power companies are buying power elsewhere at triple the price to keep the lights on.
