I (42F) think I've fallen in love with my boss (60'sF) ... we are really good friends, do I risk that to tell her I have feelings for her?
Throwaway for obvious reasons...
We worked together for almost 10 years and spent the pandemic months sharing an office, where we spent every working day together, all day long. Often we were the only ones in the office because everyone else was still WFH.
She's been my greatest mentor and also my closest friend these past few years and we care deeply about each other's families. I was there when her dad passed away and she's had my back with my asshole ex husband every step of the way. I know her sibling and her mother and she loves my children as if they were her own. She never married and I've had a string of one bad relationship after another, so we are both kind of unlucky in love.
The thing is - she's super Catholic (think teaches classes for First Communion) and even though her sibling is most def lgbtq, I'm not sure what her feelings are.
I left that job for a new one earlier this year and it wasn't until I didn't see her every day that I realized just what a big part of my life she was and I was not prepared for how much I would miss seeing her and spending time with her.
We have maintained our friendship since I left and I just sense my feelings growing, but I'd hate to ruin the friendship we do have over something she might not be interested in or even if she would be ok dating a woman, maybe she wouldn't want to date me.
I'm debating whether I should just keep our friendship the way it is and be happy with that or risk telling her how I feel.
TL;DR - I think I have feelings for my old boss, do I risk ruining our friendship to tell her?
