Cat was attacked by dog but behavior changed towards my daughter

Unfortunately my kitten was attacked by a pit bull and had his leg amputated. He was in and out of the vet due to an infection and what not. Ever since the incident my cat is terrified of my 1 year old.

Back story is when we got him he and my daughter were best friends. He would tolerate absolutely anything and love spending time with her. Now he won’t be near her and runs away if she’s 20ft away from him. I’m sure he’s traumatized from the event but it had nothing to do with my daughter. She was no where to even be present.

Anyone have advice or success stories? Breaking my heart. They were literally the perfect match and it’s why we kept him although he didn’t get along with my other cat. Now I’m worried that it’ll never go back and I hate seeing him be terrified of her.

He’s a great kitten don’t get me wrong I love him and spent over 10k on him after this. I just want them to be best friends again.

Edit: this happened of March so fairly recent and he’s been out of the room for over 2 weeks now and this happened maybe 1.5 weeks ago although my daughter would check in on him with me through all of April when he was home from the vet
