Charles Taze Russell would be 170 years young today...

:bible: Doctrine

Had he lived, and if Armageddon had ushered in Christ's Kingdom waaaayyy back in 1914 Russell would be a very respected man. But that was not to be. The end of the world didn't happen in 1914, Christ did not come back, but Charles Russell's world did end two years later in 1916.

Russell began his preaching of Christ's second coming to judge the world in 1879, his audience was his contemporaries, people born around the same time Russell was born in 1852. He could have fought in the Civil War at 12 or 13, as some youths did towards the end of that war. Russell's generation witnessed the carnage of the American Civil war, the invention of the electric light bulb, the invention of the telegraph, telephone and the invention of the horseless carriage. Most of Russell's generation would have witnessed WW1 and some may have even lived to witness WW2 and the beginning of the space age. In the extremely rare event that a person in Russell's generation had lived 120 years, they'd have even witnesses man traveling to the moon and back.

No one in Russell's generation is living today. Not one. He was a fraud and the religion he started has continued to cling to 1914 as if its some sort of magic that they can't let go for fear everything else will go with it. Sorry to say, it already has. There are no Jehovah's witnesses roaming the earth today who were born 170 years ago. In fact had Russell lived all the way to 120, he would have died 3 years before the successors of his printing empire were predicting Armageddon in 1975. Its Later Than you Think! Well, for the late CT Russell, Judge Rutherford, Nathan Knorr and millions of other 'late' JW's since 1879 it certainly has been later than they thought
