57F recurring body wide rash with past scabies

posting for my mom. 57F, 110 lbs, asian, history of high blood pressure + cholestorol, t2 diabetes, and uterine fibroids. taking januvia for the blood sugar and just switched medications for the high blood pressure that i can't recall at the moment.

last year, my mom broke out in a body wide rash that made her face swell up for weeks. we managed to get in and see an NP who diagnosed her with scabies and gave her permethrin cream to use. it seemed to go away after use.

this past week almost exactly a year later, she started getting the same rash again and went back to the doctor who again gave her permethrin cream. she used for three days, and it seemed to go away, but after about a week her face and body swelled up again.

we're going to try and see a doctor again asap but was hoping to get some insight here as well as what this could be.

benedryl seems to help with the itching but has not helped with the actual swelling or rash. she had gardened a day prior to the rash getting really bad. she works in a service industry with lots of skin contact with customers (nail salon)
