Are cramps supposed to be this bad?

So like don't get me wrong I know cramps are supposed to hurt, but like I feel this is too much. The first two days of my period I cramp so bad that I can't focus and I can't really move around much. It's all I can do to sob and sleep. I take pain meds but all it does is make it bearable and I still hurt.. I thought it was normal but after talking to other females I've had to second guess myself. The only reason I worry is because my older sister used to suffer from ovarian cysts at my age...
