Passed eJPT 19/20, AMA 🤘

I Passed!

Hello everyone, yesterday I sat for the eJPT exam and got my first pass in 8 hours.

A bit about myself. I have no prior cybersecurity hands-on knowledge, most of the knowledge that retained are the theoretical knowledge obtained through university. Despite lacking the get your hands dirty skill, eJPT has done quite an amazing job for peeps like you and I who want to know about cybersecurity and the tools used in real life pentesting scenario.

The only materials I used are INE eJPT materials, YouTube and Google. No THM/HTB/PEH required in my case. Just focus on the materials itself and do your own notes.

Few tips to pass the examination:

  1. You can look at the lab answers if you are jammed. Most of the time, I looked at the lab answers too, yes, I am guilty of that.
  2. Know how to look at Wireshark. You need to learn which IP belongs to a router, machines and other routes that need to be added into your machine (know how to use ip route add)
  3. Know all the tools by going through the materials and labs.
  4. Know your Nmap (-A, -p- -sn), Hydra (how to crack SSH/FTP), enum4linux (-a), Metasploit (to get shell once you have identified the vulnerabilities), SQL Injection, Burpsuite
  5. Bear in mind that not all the tools involved in the labs are going to be used in the exam, but you still need to learn about them (the options and arguments).

Exam Day:

  1. Wake up early and eat your breakfast (very important!)
  2. Start the certification process and READ your engagement scope first!!!
  3. Always good to read the questions on the exam before doing the pentest.

Last but not least, this is a straight forward examination, no tricks/CTF. Just chill and get your first pass 🔥. All the best peeps!
