Can a student be in trouble for something said under the influence of veritaserum

So obviously veritaserum can be used in like, court or whatever, but I had a thought. What if, as a prank, a group of students slipped an entire group of students veritaserum. If one of them started mouthing off in class because they can't lie and said some unfavorable things to their teacher (think like the neville snape dress thing but to their face. Like accidentally calling your teacher fat after they ask what you think) and they were sent to the office for disrespecting the teacher, would the charge stick? Would they still be in trouble even though they physically couldn't help themselves?

Its something that goes through my head alot for manipulation serums. Like what if you skip class to stalk someone while under the influence of a love potion, or is it illegal to use felix felicis to get better grades? We know its forbidden in quidditch but it doesn't appear to be for regular class. Same for Brainbuffer elixir, it makes you smarter, or Exstimulo which boosts your spellcasting abilities.
