Texan moving to foco in august for school! Need some advice

More specifically, advice on the weather. Its obvious enough that Texas and Colorado weather is really different, and ive never had to deal with snow / snow storms up until last year? Needless to say, we were very unprepared. Just need some general advice on winter essentials, and about when it starts to get cold and when it ends? Figured this subreddit is the best place to ask!
