A Hero Alone
I read a book that spoke of hope,
Where good people live and the demons mope.
Stars bleed above cars,
And people staggered from bars.
I read a book where the hero could win.
Where all their demons were within.
Their eyes where tired but the kept on fighting,
Against beasts of horror and towers of lightning.
But eventually every step forward became two back,
And no one was there to pick up the slack.
And so the days wasted
And bitter defeat was tasted,
Again, and again, and again.
It all could have been avoided
If they talked to a friend,
But there was no one to lend.
With a heavy heart,
They went to bed,
And soon their bones felt like lead,
And that night their soul fled.
