Girlfriend [28f] seems extremely happy out of nowhere but very distant and distracted yet I [29m] can’t prove there’s a problem.

[new]

My girlfriend of 2 years seems extremely happy lately (which is great) but since I’ve know her for 5 years, this kind of happy seems different from how she normally is when she’s happy.

Clearly, she’s been in a great mood about something but when I ask her about it out of curiosity, she gets upset and says “it’s fucked up to ask why I’m happy”.

It also feels like she placates me lately for lack of a better word (maybe it’s the correct word).

Things she used to be angry about, she’s now acting really happy about while she’s in this new elevated mood I’ve never seen.

For example, she used to complain about me working so much and today while being in this elevated mood, she asked me about work and I told her what was happening and she really enthusiastically said “I love it I love it”.

She even compliments me but they don’t feel like genuine compliments. It’s hard for me to articulate this but it just feels like I’m not being taken serious.

It’s almost similar to an adult acting with exaggerated enthusiasm and excitement about something a child has interest in but of course the adult is being delicate with the child.

When we talk on the phone, it seems like she’s distracted and not really listening to what I have to say.

She’s being extremely nice yes but like when she asked me about work, she said: I love it I love it.

And as I continued talking, she interrupted me and said “that’s hot”. I mean it all just feels like she’s distracted and not genuine.

And it doesn’t feel like she’s even listening to anything I say. She’s singing, being extremely loud, interrupting and talking over me.

I feel uncomfortable and of course, I wonder if she’s met someone at work given how she’s acting now.

She constantly accuses me of talking to someone else even though the thought of cheating on her makes me want to vomit.

If I receive a text message and she hears it, she’ll immediately ask “so who’s texting you” or get angry and think I’m talking to someone else.

Yet if I ask just out of curiosity what’s gotten into her lately, to see maybe if there’s some good news or something, she’ll get angry and say things like “that’s fucked up. I can’t be in a good mood?”

while times I’ve been in a super good mood and it’s nocticeable she’ll comment “well you’re in a good mood. What’s up?”

TLDR: My girlfriend isn’t acting how she normally acts, it’s not bad but I feel uncomfortable yet am unable to talk about it without her getting mad. Would breaking up with her be too extreme?
