City to stay suggestion?

Hello,

I'm heading to Tampa/St Pete area from Tennessee this summer and am planning to stop somewhere along the way for an evening and an overnight stay. Looking for somewhere within no more than 3-4 hours from St Pete. Just looking for a nice family friendly area to have dinner and a decent hotel. Any recommendations from this group?
