My Roku remote won’t connect back to its stick.

I recently moved and manage to lose one of my Roku remotes. I pulled out a remote and a stick that didn’t go together and tried to get it to pair. Now that I’m unpacked I can’t get the remote to connect to either stick. I can get both to want to pair but they won’t find each other inches apart. Any suggestions?
