Time for a new car. Model X, MDX, Q8, Cayenne, etc.
Hey everyone,
Like the subject states, it's time for a new car. I currently have a '17 CX-5 Grand Touring with ~95k miles. It's a great car but I've grown tired of it and want something nicer. This time I'm buying what I am truly happy with and don't mind paying the premium. The goal is to pay the vehicle off and keep it long term.
I've narrowed the options down to the following, all around the ~$60-65k price point:
- 2017 Model X 75D - Viewed this today, was really impressed with the technology. Loved the open feel that the windows gave me. - $68k - 58k miles
- New - 2022 Model Y Performance - $63k
- New - 2022 Acura MDX A-Spec - $58.5k - Test drove this today, I love every so many things about it but it feels down on power. 290hp for a SUV that size just doesn't feel adequate.
- 2019 Audi Q8 Premium Plus or Prestige - $63k - 46k miles
- 2020 Porsche Cayenne - $62k - 63k miles
Splurge options, ~$75k:
- New - MDX Type-S with Advanced Package - $72.5k
- 2017 Model X 100D - $73.5k - 45k miles
My only concerns with the Q8 and Cayenne are of course, the maintenance. I can afford the maintenance but I also don't want to be throwing money at something if I don't have to. I previously had an A6 and it was leaking oil with ~35k miles, had a front left engine mount go out, and a quick electrical issue with the windows that was resolved so it's kind of steering me away from the German side for a long term purchase such as this. The Acura may be the only one I'd have peace of mind with in that regard, unless I decided to get extended warranties on the Porsche or Audi.
The used Teslas can all be upgraded to AutoPilot 3 which is the newest internal hardware for $2-2.5k so it'll be like having a new Tesla aside from ~5%, if that, battery degradation. A new Model Y would be dope but the Model X simply has features that the Y doesn't such as the second screen, auto open/close doors, air suspension, etc.
If anyone has any other options to recommend, please do so! Looking forward to hearing everyone's weigh in!
