When do things really pick up?

I was very fortunate to receive a liver donation on the 19th and I realized pretty quickly how drastically I underestimated the difficulty of recovery. I'm at 2 weeks today and was just discharged this last weekend after dealing with some severe internal bleeding after surgery.

I received 6 blood transfusions during that time and now I'm swollen with fluid, my abdomen is uncomfortable and painful and so is my back. I'm starting to feel a little bit stronger and better but when did you notice things really start turning a corner for the better?

Sometimes I feel so much pain and feel so sick I wish I could just step outside my body for an hour just to feel somewhat normal again and it's making me pretty depressed.
