Beginner Question About Jobs

Hi! I just got Bravely Default and Bravely Second for the 3DS and I am starting my journey with the series for the first time. However, I am a little confused with how changing jobs works. Can you change between them freely? If there is a useful guide that I could follow, I would be very appreciative! Thanks!
