What if the Romance Languages are just people speaking Latin as if they were cats.

I was snugging my cat and he was purring. And I was just thinking about how Spanish and French have some more rolling Rs. So what if there were people speaking Latin to their cats and were trying to add purring noises into the language so their cats would understand? Is that how Language evolves?
