My mom attempted suicide on my parent's anniversary the Monday after I had taken the first long weekend I admitted to them in ages. In her note she blamed me. She said that she'd been force fed anti-psychotics and now her life was shit. I have not addressed or even brought up her meds to her in over a year due to her increasing hostility around the subject. Anyway, she's been medically diagnosed with Bipolar 2, but currently claims I diagnosed her and has been telling that to anyone who will listen. What is truly BPD about all this, is that her lashing out at me really started occurring when I began laying boundaries and shock, horror tried to put myself and my life first for a change in the face of her relentless mental health and just overall health issues. I truly believe that the idea of me having a nice relaxing weekend infuriated her somehow. I realize anywhere else people would think I'm nuts for writing that, but I feel like most of you will probably know this lunacy in some form or fashion. I also think because I refuse to drop my life and devote it to being her unending nurse/therapist she hates me now. My dad has even alluded to the fact that she's saying she hates me. What is also annoying is how hopelessly clueless the medical team seems to be about her mental health. It doesn't seem to matter how much history me and my siblings provide, it's like screaming into a void with them. Truly bizarre. This current hospital doesn't think she has bipolar 2 because she didn't present as manic. I wonder why, when she overdosed on anti-psychotics? I haven't engaged at all except with my siblings and the first doctor over the phone. I guess I just needed to vent again, thanks.
