Something To Think About: Misogyny Towards Pregnant Women & Mothers

NSFWFOOD FOR THOUGHT

Possible trigger: misogynistic, sexual & just all around gross language

Hey, FWW. I’m a newer radfem (the OP of the ‘finally snapped’ post) and I wanted to discuss something that I only just realized was misogynistic now. Since I used to be a libfem, this didn’t really cross my mind.

Do you ever notice, especially on Reddit, that males tend to use very dehumanizing and sexual language when criticizing mothers and pregnant women?

An example of what I mean: a mother posted on Facebook that she thought moms should get to be ahead of others in line at the drive thru. It gets posted on one of the popular subreddits (the point being to make fun of her for being entitled), and there are a ton of upvoted comments such as “imagine thinking you deserve special treatment for being creampied.”

I’ve also seen: “why do mothers think they’re special for letting someone cum inside them?”

While I don’t love the people who make parenting and kids their whole personality, notice how the males offer no valid criticism. When they see a mom/pregnant woman their first thought is to sexualize her. Being a mother is way more than “haha a man came inside me🤪” but that’s all they can think of. I’m only just now realizing how misogynistic and disgusting this is, and I’m disappointed I used to laugh at these comments when I was a brainwashed libfem. :( Every day I try and improve myself so I can help fight against the patriarchy and support other women.

Sorry if that was a messy post, I’m tired but I felt like it needed to be said!
