Am I wrong for breaking up with my s/o?

I've broken up with my ex-fiancé after almost 3 years of dating. There were red flags in the beginning of the relationship. Such as if I said something that he found hurtful, instead of telling me, he'll instantly react to hurt me back. I tried to help him through this, showing him strategies and just hoped it'll get better overtime. Instead it unfortunately turned into gaslighting. In our arguments, everything was my fault, always. I've tried hard to change myself for our reasons but it was never enough, nothing was. He said a lot of things that have hurted me, that I can't forget about but he wanted us to forget the past and make a "fresh start". Trying to make that fresh start, I was losing myself. Everytime when we did argue, I was getting vibes of someone I was close to that was a narcissist. I started having visions of me having to divorce him as i was seeing how unhealthy everything was, so I decided to cancel out marriage process.

I love this man and still do but I was feeling effected and don't know where my mind is at currently. He was my man and best friend but when having a "fresh start", I felt as I've already lost my best friend. Everyone I was open with about this relationship has encourage me to leave but after leaving, I regret.
