Aussie Medical Advice - anxious pacing and hind leg shaking
Hello everyone, hoping someone on here has some sort of experience with this issue as we have gone to multiple different vets on several occasions and none can seem to figure out what’s wrong with my 5 year old female Australian shepherd. I can’t seem to find any similar experiences on the web.
This has been going on for several months now, we first noticed our female aussie wasn’t jumping up on the couch with us. She used to always lay on the couch with us and jump on her spot on the couch when we got home to greet us. At that same time, she also was reluctant to go up the stairs. She needed to be coaxed and even then she would only use her left hind leg to step up each stair.
Not constantly, but frequently, she will pace off quickly as if she is afraid of something, start to lay down, and immediately jump up and pace away again, lay down, jump up again, repeat. Anxiously pacing is the best way I could say it.. often times when we try to calm her down we will find her back right leg is shaking.
It’s hard to explain everything but as her owners we know something just isn’t right with her.
We have had multiple vets examine her to include palpating and range of motion tests to her hind legs and back, blood and stool sample, multiple x-rays, and an MRI. The MRI may have shown a small “spur” on a vertebral disc but the radiologist didn’t seem convinced it could be anything. The vet gave her an epidural, which seemed to help, but she is right back to where she was. Does anyone have any experiences similar to this and what was the treatment?
