New Construction- Who decides closing date?
Hi all, we were supposed to close our new build (NJ) this February but there have been construction delays and the builder emailed us that we are in good shape now (May) and might have the inspection next week after which he would order CO, but nothing about the closing date.
We updated our lenders and attorney about this and our lenders asked us for the home insurance along with other documents. The home insurance agent says he needs a closing date to move forward. Our attorneys have no info from builders attorney. Lenders have nothing either and ask us when the closing is.
Am I missing something here? I was under the assumption the builder and lender would decide the closing date.
TLDR: Who decides the closing date for new construction homes (in NJ if it matters). We have only the inspection estimate from builder and lender, attorney and title company are asking us for the closing date.
Sorry for the wall of text!
