How do you deal with the pushy people in AA

This is no way me attempting to bash AA. I went to my first AA meeting after a year of leaving. I guess I just wanted to share what was going on and also share my thoughts. Immediately was approached by a guy and we began to talk. I began telling him my history of having been sober awhile now and how outpatient helped me so much. He began bashing outpatient. Outpatient 100% helped me quit and taught me so many amazing things. Then a group came up to me and kept telling me I needed to get a sponsor and a home group Immediately and I needed to work the steps. I don't believe in God, been there done that trying to find a way to navigate a higher power. I said "I thought the only requirement was a desire to quit drinking" and I think that upset them. After the meeting everyone wanted my number and wanted me to commit to a meeting tomorrow. Is this normal behavior? I remember there being some pushy people my first go around when I supplemented AA meetings once a week for a few months with outpatient. Tonight makes me miss the conversations I had with my amazing counselor sooooo much.
