Just want to share
36F. I had my first EGD+colonoscopy yesterday to investigate long-standing esophageal issues and possible causes for chronic constipation that set it in 1.5 years ago. Basically, my poops are rock hard and I haven’t been able to push a single rock out in said 1.5 years. I drink 96+ oz of water daily and do all the diet things, plus linzess and ungodly amounts of miralax. Can’t go unless it’s liquified, otherwise it feels like the poop gets all the way to exit then I just can’t make it happen. Maybe because my muscles don’t work, but more so the feeling of an obstruction.
Results: I have a hiatal hernia which was not a surprise. The doctor also removed 3 small polyps from the sigmoid and rectosigmoid which was a surprise! Waiting for biopsy results. Doctor also found no obstructions which was a surprise because WHAT is it that I’m feeling I need to push out if not poop?! Not hemorrhoids and no visible rectal prolapse, though I have a pediatric history of it.
Plan: defecating proctogram then take it from there.
Sidenotes: According to the visit summary my colon was “well prepared” and I’m freakishly pleased by that. Like huge pat on the back for my intestines for cooperating! I fasted for 2 days and did 1.5 gallons of GoLytley. I’m now relishing in all the feels of having clean intestines - I farted like 50 times today and am normally so backed up that a fart would be a prized gift from on high.
Thanks for reading if you got this far (edited for spelling)
