So it appears I was mistaken, when I join the indicator earth to the frame. Neutral comes back but indicators stop working entirely. Any ideas?

That sounds logical actually as we did respray the frame which may have thrown all of the continuity off! Thanks for the advice

It sounds like you have your fix already - connect the frame and the fender to ground. Your neutral light and spark plugs ground through the engine, which grounds through the frame, and your turn signals probably ground through the fender. I'd expect the fender to also have continuity to the frame, but maybe there are plastic washers, loctite, paint or something like that preventing the connection.

Could it be that you accidentally have shorted things?

Common to have issues with indicators and with the lamp indicating on the dash. 

Could you try to put a diode on each positive for the indicators?

The lamp indicating on the dash is just a bulb. If the same light is used for both sides they often need a diode to avoid shorting. 

Can also be an idea to add additional earth. Get a good ground going to the handlebars, engine, and rear. A separate wire for each will avoid grounding issues in the frame. 

If you are sure there is no grounding issues and no shorts, it’s time to get the multimeter out and start chasing dead connections.

Hey everyone. I’m planning to buy a cb100N. Is there anything I should be on the look out? Tips and advices?

1982 honda cb100n earthing issue somewhere. Managed to get indicators horn etc working but then I've lost neutral light and spark. if I earth to both the back mudguard and the frame all of it seems to work. if I earth to mudguard only then no neutral light. If earth to frame only then no indicators?
