Hey thanks for mentioning David Novak... I knew I was forgetting about this incident.

You’re taking the word of the person that lied about Novak having a gun? Remember, it is proven that Novak never had a gun, nor did he ever fire a shot. But you are going to claim a convicted felon who lied about Novak having a gun was honest when he says Novak used racial slurs?

You might want to get a better witness.

The monthly protest against police brutality put on by David Novak’s family will be in front to the Spokane Courthouse this Saturday, 5/7/22 from noon to 1pm. We gather every month on the 7th at the same time. 

David Novak was killed on 1/7/19 in his front yard by Police Officer Brandon Rankin. David had not committed any crime and was unarmed when Rankin rolled up to the house, ran to a neighbor’s fence and shot a bullet into David’s back. For the next 20 minutes, SPD let David lay there bleeding out before they allowed any medical assistance. David died because of the ineptitude of SPD.

Officer Brandon Rankin would be deemed justified by Prosecutor Larry Haskell and his actions defended by Chief Meidl. Officer Rankin would then be promoted to Detective. Rankin is still employed by SPD.

Ethan Murray, Otto Zehm... just doesn't stop.

It's the job they chose. You can't just shoot a fleeing person in the back and claim they came at you with a knife and expect people to say nice things about you.

I dont. But I do expect them not to shoot people in the back.  

Who CARES if cops don't have anything nice to say. Stop shooting people.

It's their job to provide a positive service despite public opinion. If they don't like that they're free to get another one.

They protect and serve themselves,  no one else. Have you been living under a rock.

Because it's their job to protect and serve. Regardless of how the public feels about them.

They earned this reputation first. When they stop hiring and keeping murderers on payroll we can talk.

Because these "groups" of people enthusiastically get paid for continuing cycles of violence, perpetuating poverty, and enforcing laws that are heavily tilted towards the oppression of lower classes.

they have never been positive towards me or plenty of other people. since their creation. many of my friends have first-hand trauma of police brutality including myself. cops are given complete power in a societal and institutional sense and are designed to protect themselves no matter what. they only make communities worse.

Yeah. This is what these backwoods yokel types do. It’s a big old good ol’ boy gang. Cops are morons, they are given badges and guns too easily. 
I’ve known a few, I wouldn’t let them watch my pets. Seriously. It’s also why I don’t call cops. If I can’t handle the situation, then it’s not going to get handled. Because even if I did call them, I’m not rich enough for them to show up.

these cops reflect the ENTIRE force with such actions. Sheriffs too.

In 2017,  he was a victim of a “voluntary reduction in force.”

Where’s Doug Clark when you need him? He kept Otto in the forefront and eventually someone did pay for his unnecessary death.

Not surprising, why were my public defenders also best buds with the prosecutor/s. I've been on trouble a lot of times, I don't want to get started on what I think about our law enforcement/ criminal justice system. It's depressing to say the least.

When I have turned police officers in for violating the law, IA blows it off and claims either “Officer discretion” or “Officer perception”. And then nothing is done.

Among countless many other illegal acts committed by law rnforcement. Does Internal Affairs ever investigate these guys or are they too busy applying bandaids to broken legs?

This is what we get when police departments give preferential hiring treatment to combat veterans (in this case, a special forces operator no less). 

Think about that. “Oh you did combat patrols in Fallujah? Perfect! Come bring that warrior mindset to patrolling peaceful American neighborhoods! What could go wrong??”

I am so sorry this happened. He was a kind person. And you are right, Justine is the nicest loving person you could ever meet. She tried so hard to help Ethan, but mental health disabilities are so hard to deal with. 

It makes me angry that the Spokane Sheriff’s Office let the rumor go around that Ethan was on drugs at the time of the shooting when they knew for a fact that his toxicology test came back clean. He had no drugs in his system.

Since Ethan was killed, his mother has raised a lot of money and awareness for mental health issues and resources. She is an amazing person that I am lucky to have met.

Went to middle school and high school with Ethan up in Sandpoint. Sure, he made some mistakes and hung out with the wrong people as we were growing up but he was never a violent person - pretty soft spoken and shy, actually. His mom is the sweetest and every time I'm reminded of this story I feel so bad because Ethan was close to getting his life back on track at the time this happened.

Was there body cam footage. Was the incident caught on camera. If the officer lied about the knife that should be pretty easy to prove. But if the guy had a knife well you know what they say. Never bring a knife to a gun fight. Sounds like a cover up if there was another officer who accidentally dropped his knife. And to wait 20 minutes before rendering aid sounds like intentional homicide. Where were the cameras. I don't  know if I believe this. Where is the footage.

On this day in 2019, Spokane Sheriff Deputy Joseph Wallace put 5 bullets into an unarmed innocent Ethan Murray. Murray had committed no crime. He was suffering from a mental health disorder. 

Wallace was never interviewed by investigators, but wrote a statement 30 days after shooting Murray to death. In the statement, Wallace lied about Murray attacking him with a knife. He went into great detail describing the alleged knife. That description would match a knife that was “accidentally” dropped at the crime scene by another deputy. The knife was removed from evidence and no investigation into the dropped knife was pursued. 

Wallace continues to work for SCSO and was actually promoted to Detective, despite killing an innocent unarmed person and having lied about what happens that day.
