Oh yes, I’m the nap queen. Ha! Now that it’s a bit more tolerable, I’m getting a lot more liquids and protein in which is helping. Recovery a bunch. And I feel you on that acid reflux. Woof. Burping is the name of the game. Thankfully, the medication my doctor prescribed seems to be helping.

Well then take a nap. Then hydration missiles!

I’m sorry you’re struggling. The fatigue is definitely hard in the beginning. I started to feel a LOT better after 5 days or so. Just keep drinking as much as you can and try to get some protein in. I also had a horrible cough and tight chest for a few weeks after surgery. I know the intubation can irritate your throat but a lot of mine was also because of reflux. Maybe take a PPI to control acid if you aren’t already.

Thanks so, so much for this. I hear you on trying to get enough liquids and protein in. The struggle is real. I also need to remember that I didn’t just have VSG, but had my ovaries removed as well due to endometriosis and ovarian cysts (had my tubes and uterus removed a year and a half ago). Im sure the double whammy doesn’t help with my energy levels either. But, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. The work is hard, but I know the payoff for my health will be even better. I’m already down 28 lbs since starting my 2 week pre-op liquid diet and am feeling less physical pain which gets me misty.

1 week post op and now that my skin is healing up from a not so fun surgical glue reaction, I went on a short walk today and I just woke up from a nap because it put me straight to sleep after. Phew. Going to try and get out there a couple of times a day, but damn. Also, breathing is fricking hard when moving around. I just ordered a breathing exercise machine since I forgot to grab one from the hospital. It gets better, right? Just got me thinking if 6 weeks of medical leave is going to be enough.
