Why do people not pre-fold their bags?

When I first started shopping, everyone did - which makes total sense as it’s a hundred times easier to stage when your bags are already folded. Now almost no one does, which wouldn’t be a big deal except we’re interrupted so often and inheriting other shoppers’ bizarrely bagged orders. Like yesterday I got an abandoned order where all 15 bags were packed to the top, unfolded. 😬 Our manager, a few days before he left, even posted in work chat about it. Do non-folders just not care?
