What words and names do the British commentators pronounce incorrectly that can easily be pronounced correctly in English?
Primarily, I don’t want to learn to pronounce something wrong, but I also get annoyed at all the way people from the British Isles could be saying correctly. This is not a difference of American vs British English per se, but the way the Brits say words that are not from the English language.
Examples: Ducati is Italian. No one gets to dictate how that word is pronounced, other than the Italians. Yet, the Brits will blatantly pronounce it wrong, despite being perfectly capable of saying it correctly.
Fabio is being pronounced as if it were an English word. Fab-ee-ohYet, the town in England Bath, is pronounce by the English as Bah-th. So they are clearly capable of understanding a long-A sound and saying it correctly, but somehow decided to say Fabio’s name wrong, including to his face.
Qatar is being pronounced as Cat-tar instead of Cuhtar Cutter.
Bagnaia is pronounced without the G sound.
Matt Birt is saying Marco Bezzecchi name like Bed-zeci.
Despite knowing they are saying words and names wrong and doing it anyway, I’m baffled how so many make a strong effort to say Jerez correctly. Her-eth.
So I am wondering what other words or names they are saying incorrectly THAT COULD EASILY BE PRINTED CORRECTLY BY NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS.
