From a 3rd world country, planning on visiting a friend in the summer. Anyone have any experience with this?

As the title suggests, also when browsing the requirements for being able to visit the country one of them was: "Travel medical insurance covering the period of stay with a value of at least 30,000 Euro (valid for all Schengen countries)".
Anyway around that? cause as a student I obviously don't have that amount and it does seem very pricey.
