[PC]['90s?] Quirky text adventure where you're a schlubby guy (possibly a game developer). You start out at home and you could do stuff like microwave something till it was gross or play a game-within-a-game on his computer. Also, something with a unicorn?
Platform: PC
Genre: Interactive Fiction/Text Adventure
Estimated year of release: mid to late '90s, maybe?
Graphics: None, just words.
Notable characters: Schlubby guy protagonist, possibly a unicorn?
Notable gameplay mechanics: You could use the guy's computer to play a text adventure within the text adventure--this might be where the unicorn shows up. It might have been a game the protagonist himself was making. I think you could use the computer to browse the internet as well. You could use your microwave to cook some food till it was gross and inedible. I don't remember if there was any clear goal to the game. I spent most of my time fooling around and trying unproductive things with comedic results; whoever made it put a lot of effort into creating entertaining responses for stuff like that.
Other details: I think I downloaded this for free from like an AOL message board with lots of free games back in the dial-up age. It seemed more like an indie/hobbyist project from a time when text adventures were already pretty niche than something released commercially. It had a tongue-in-cheek, self-aware kind of vibe, and it wasn't really vulgar or anything but I feel like there was a lot of "adult" humor that went over my head. Unfortunately, given my age at the time my memory is very sketchy and a lot of this may be distorted or inaccurate!
