I think I just realised that I don't want to have art as a career.
Okay so, I love art. Adore it. I've been creating less lately due to a lack of time and energy and a lack of inspiration, but I love art. Ever since I was little I wanted to be a full-time artist. Selling my work has always been a dream like I'm sure it is for many people. In the last few years I have sold a few pieces, and that was a big deal for me, but I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and I am seriously doubting whether I would love art as a full time job anymore.
I'm currently going through a bit of a career crisis anyway right now, as I'm looking for a new job and I have no idea what path I want to go down anymore. But within that, I've also realised that the dream I've had forever doesn't really appeal to me as much as I thought I did. I'm terrified that if art became my job then I would lose my drive and love for it, and I think I'd be much happier with it as a hobby.
Has anyone else ever had this realisation for themselves? It's scary realising that what you thought was your dream might not really be what you want anymore. All respect to those of you that are full time artists, but I think maybe it wouldn't be for me.
