Xbox needs to make the "playing offline with home Xbox" info more accessible to gamers
Yesterday's outtage led many to believe that there was absolutely no way to play the games they owned. People who did research before know how to play offline but there are many users that aren't privy to such info.
"Home Xbox" does need internet to let Xbox know which is your current home device, but wasn't it part of the first time setup instructions? Home Xbox would only negatively impact people who are sharing game libraries with another or forgot to set their device as home Xbox.
Xbox assist tells you how but that's internet dependent.
In a system update, this info should be in the network settings when you hover over "Go offline", in the side panel, to avoid such a frenzy.
Edit: Forgot to mention how lol. You can play offline by going into network settings and selecting "Go offline". When it comes to game sharing offline, you can only play the games your sharing partner bought. If your xbox is set as home xbox, you'll have access to the games you bought. "Home xbox" is in settings ---> personalization. Gamepass games obviously need internet since they are not owned.
Edit 2: Let us play our games offline Xbox
