Where I'm from, the cops are kinda disturbing and most people haven't caught on (TW: PEDOPHILIA AND RAPE ARE MENTIONED)
The cops have sat down and believed a pedophile when he said he felt so much remorse for diddling a 13 yo. He was her cadet leader. They sat there, assuring a woman with children that he is a safe guy (though, the diddler told her that she was 16, in love with him, she went to the cops and then he felt bad... the cops just assumed she knew the real story).
The cops looked at a hickey on a rape victim's neck and told them they must have wanted it. They were 15 and 14-15 yos can consent with people under 5 years older (you wouldn't expect that in Canada). The dude was 26, they were 15.
Not to mention, the cops couldn't get their facts straight. They said the bare minimum age for consent is 13, when the official Royal Canadian Mounted Police website states it's 12. What happened to them at 12 was still illegal, but gee, can't you get your facts straight?

Just a hunch, but the RCMP website is probably correct. Other official Canadian websites say essentially the exact same thing.
Yep, we live in a world where Canadians can consent with people up to 2 years older at 12-13. And UNDER FIVE YEARS at 14-15.
