Another ‘is it too late?’ post

I know the women on this sub must be sick of this question. But I have a very small friend circle that unfortunately reaffirms my fears. I (29F) knew very early in my childhood that I would be a scientist. So I went on to get a bachelors and a masters degree. I spent every summer working in labs and building my resume. But at the end of my masters program I had some kind of mental breakdown and had to take a break. I truly cannot explain what happened but I got really messed up. I got a low paying job to make ends meet and somehow one year turned to five (especially with the pandemic).

Since then Ive gone to a therapist, broken up with abusive friends/boyfriends, gotten help for ADHD, and Now I want to return to my career. But I just logged onto LinkedIn and realised literally every single person I went to school with are so much further in their careers. They are at high paying jobs at amazing companies. Its the same with my friend circle- everyone has a 6figure salary, a mortgage, a husband. Everyone always talks about how they are so worried about me and what Im going to do with my life. Im honestly so overwhelmed and I feel like Im facing an impossible mountain. One friend even commented that I should find someone to marry now because Im aging out of the ‘market’. But in my culture women have to hold stable jobs before a man would even consider marriage.

I feel like when I was younger I had a well defined path to walk. I always knew what the next step would be. Now I look at the job market and feel hopeless. Ive realised the fear is holding me back from making any moves for the future. Can anyone offer insights from your experience?
