Tips for barking

I have a nz huntaway (closest thing to them is a border collie x German shepherd x rottie) x Catahoula that is starting to annoy the neighbours cause he keeps barking when people drive past and when he can hear the hunters (duck shooting season has started in our area and it’s giving him anxiety) so he’s barking a little more than usual. It wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t bred to have a loud bark either.

Are there any tricks or tips to change that behaviour to something else or even to get him to just limit to a couple barks rather than him running around and barking like a nutter.

I’ve been using the leave it and quiet command and even trying to time it so I say them before he starts barking at what he’s guarding away but sometimes I’m not quick enough and sometimes that houla stubbornness takes over and he backchats. There’s been improvement already but would like any other advice. Thank you.
