[Academic] Psychological Experience Sampling study: Developing a scale to measure momentary happiness (18+, English speaking)

Academic

Hi all,

my name is Manuel Rein, I am a Research Master student in Psychology an Tilburg University, the Netherlands, and I am looking for people that are interested in participating in an Experience Sampling/Ecological Momentary Assessment Study about happiness.

What is the study about?

Psychologists often use so-called self-report measures in their studies, that is, they ask participants about their thoughts and feelings. To make sure that scientists can draw valid conclusions from their data, we need good and reliable questionnaires. This study aims to develop a new questionnaire that measures momentary satisfaction. Momentary satisfaction describes how happy you are in a specific moment and your satisfaction with your current activity.

This study uses an Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) design. This means that the app m-path will send you multiple notifications each day and asks you to answer some questions about your current thoughts and experiences. The full study takes place over 15 days and you receive 6 short surveys per day (around 10 questions per survey). All study-related activities happen on your smartphone through the m-path app. Note that your smartphone needs to be connected to the internet to receive notifications.

Who can participate?

Everyone who is 18 years or older can participate.

What's in it for you?

For each EMA survey you fill out, you will gain tickets for a raffle of five 20€ amazon vouchers. The more EMA surveys you fill out, the higher are your chances of winning. You can also receive a free, individualized report about how your momentary well-being developed during those 14 days. Please note that you will only be eligible for the raffle if you fill out the final questionnaire and missed less than 40% of the EMA surveys.

How to participate?

  1. Download the app m-path ( https://bit.ly/3904rIc ).
  2. Create an account.
  3. Add researcher "Manuel Rein" (code: ry2l7)
  4. Sign up by filling out the first survey.

If you have any questions about the study or what exactly I am studying with this research and the analyses I will be running, please leave a comment or send me a message. I am happy to share more information about what I am doing.
