That's only after SC, I'm pretty sure. And my memory of it is not the best, but I'm pretty sure his SC consisted of taking in the power of Ilryos on top of that of Diche, with Ilryos representing the sun and Diche representing the moon or some shit like that.
Either way, the fire powers come from Ilryos iirc.

On one hand he doesn't need a dark hero to do his thing. On the other hand his explosion doesn't penetrate defense. I went to champ arena sez bombing here and there, on comp without belian, aoc, or politis. Now there's peira and clilias everywhere. But SG will buff every hero to bring them to the power of clilias I'm sure. It's gonna be all balanced. Right?

What do clothes have to do with element in the first place? Most characters don't evne use any magic or elemental attacks. People are grasping at straws in many cases...

I mean, there are other suspect choices like Zahhak with his very fiery S3 being Earth element, but you usually don’t have the full package the way Taeyou does.
Name: literally taken from the Japanese word for Sun (if it’s actually from some similar word from Korean and not the Japanese Taiyou lmk. Also interested to know what the guy’s name is in Korean since his Japanese name is Till, which doesn’t really tell me anything).
Color scheme: a lot of red and red-head.
Ornament: fireball?
Animation: fire everywhere.

"Tae" often means "great," but "you" (sometimes romanized as yu) has a lot of different meanings, so I dunno which one they're going for.

Good to know. Is his name the same in the Korean version? The JP Version I know changes a few names (Tamarinne -> Ruri, Taeyou -> Till) so just making sure.

Ok, admittedly what I thought was fire effects was mostly the red ring and what seems to be shadows (?) of multiple Zahhak, but the tip of his sword does still seem to be on fire.
So Zahhak may not be a great example of off-element unit, but my point on Taeyou stands.

For real though, I start to feel like the chosen elements for a game should be something less specific than "ice" and "fire" cause people sure don't seem capable of disassociating from color schemes.

I’m not one to personally care about colour schemes, but when I talked about this when Taeyou released I got a lot of downvotes & a lot of people saying it’s more to do with him literally wielding fire.
It’s the same with Mort, he’s clearly like an Ice dragon & isn’t Sez’s S3 like a flame in his hand?
Though I mean this has been present for a long time, what about Vildred is “Earth” - because he breaks the ground with his S3? Characters have had weird or zero attachments to their element for a while.

Oh yeah, don't worry, I actually agree on Taeyou's element being kinda weird, but it's never been something so strictly enforced. Also something I found curious that you normally wouldn't see is his character portrait actually has a TON of blue in his palette, but it's all below his waistline, so the red overwhelms the portion of the design you actually see. Also if you go back to his pre-Lua attire, it's also more prominently blue, so it's not like he's always been "THE RED DUUUUUDE".
As for Mort, I always just associated him with crystals as opposed to ice, but even if it was, pretty sure Solitaria is literally OF THE SNOW, and nobody gives a shit lmao. It's just not that important. Sez could be straight up Dark. Elements could be replaced with "blue counters red counters green counters blue" and nothing would change.

Moonlight elements tends to overwrite any other elemental sensibilities, which is why people don’t tend to say anything about them even if traditional elements are present. There’s stuff like Lionheart wielding fire too.
Color schemes are one thing, but examples like Mort having ice form over him during his transformation or Taeyou wielding fire make their assigned elements egregious cases.

Again. Crystal. Scales. There's no indication of it being ice, neither any of his other abilities indicate even any sort of magic ability. He's just a fighter type who has scales that harden at will. I think that's kind of obvious actually.

Also, Solitaria is the ML of an ice unit. Lermia is the ML of a fire unit. Both of them still make sense
