I don't ever want to play a "man's role" in this world.
My guardian was emphasizing "being a man," buying a car, getting married, having kids then buying a house and the whole time, life sounded progressively more terrible with everything he listed.
If all of that is "being a man," I would rather not identify as a man. In fact, I would rather do everything I can to continue avoiding spending time with men.
I don't want kids. Nor do I ever want to own a car. Marriage is up in the air but I don't want to be with anyone who prioritizes those things and I couldn't care less either way.
I'm on the autism spectrum. If he cannot comprehend that, I need a new guardian.
I had a conversation which a church leader cut short, saying, "I don't like labels" when I got to beginning to explain my diagnosis... which he did cut me off on. He then ended it by saying, "I think you want independence" and I was powerless to stop that abrupt end. That was not by any stretch of the imagination, what I was saying, Mike.
Men don't even seem to be capable of allowing people to speak, let alone have any opinions of their own.
I have a penis. That's about the closest I've ever come to "being a man" and sometimes I wish I didn't even have that.
