Should I call CPS?
I met this girl on a Facebook mom group. She said she needed a friend and I texted her to see what was up. I have never met her before, so after a couple days of texting we met up at the park in my small town. When we met up she was vaping and blowing it on what looked like a newborn baby. It was too cold so we decided to go back to her place. As soon as she opened the front door I was hit with a wall of stench. Smelled like garbage, mold, and cat pee/dog poop. She had to shove garbage out of the way to get inside. I was holding my 15 month old and had to climb over a pile of trash to get inside. The couch was very stained and dirty. I had to hold my son the entire time because he’s in the stage where he puts everything in his mouth and was reaching for bottle caps and cat pee covered socks. She took her baby out of the stroller and he puked on himself. She took him back into the back bedroom and put him on the bed, still covered in vomit. I asked how old he was and she said two months. The baby barely weighed ten pounds. He screamed on the bed which was covered in loose blankets and pillows and she just shut the door to the room. Her husband was in the other room, half naked and laying in a pile of dirty clothes and garbage with a dog watching a horror movie at full volume. I texted my husband to call me and say he needed me home because I didn’t feel safe and it wasn’t safe for my son there either. The girl said she had no food for dinner so I invited her to my place for dinner. She went to leave with me and have dinner at our house and made no move to get her baby and take him with us. I told her to bring him and he could nap at our place while we ate. While we were at my place my husband made dinner while I put the screaming baby to sleep, changed his clothes, and put cream on his bright red diaper rash. I am so conflicted on what to do, the girl needs help. What would you do in this situation? Is there someone better to call than cps?
