Honestly your not missing out on much, her next two seasons are definitely better than her first, but I feel like there's a bunch of skippable episodes. But the weeping angel episode in season 13/flux ( I dunno what it's officially called) is hands down one of the most intense episodes of recent years imo.

Either way I'd recommend watching through them for season 14, they are not going to be relevent most likely, but it's worth catching up imo

That’s cool. I haven’t watched 13’s weeping angel episode I’ve only watched her first season and liked her as the Doctor but hated the writing, I still need to catch up since I feel like I’m missing out on a lot.

It's not a passive ability, in village of the angles 13 states it takes alot of energy to do that, and that was a drawing in the same house, imagine the energy required to do that into the TARDIS, if they even have enough energy to do it. 

The other idea is somthing in the TARDIS blocks them from doing it

The more they were used, the more we learned about them, which mad them inherently less scary. Originally they were this force that couldn't communicate, or be reasoned with, they were always going to catch up with you no matter what which was scary. 

Then in series they were given a voice, which was a cool plot device but definitely made that episode way less scary.

Now in flux they are all part of this big conspiracy to work for the division, the fact that they would and could work for an organisation like that sort of shits on the lonely assassin's image and they now appear more like people than they aggressive, inhumane predators that made them frightening to begin with

Also they've acrewed a lot of pointless powers like being able to turn their enemies into dust on the second time they get touched for some reason, even though that was never a part of it.

They had brief cameos in the God Complex, the Time of the Doctor, and Hell Bent. Not enough for them to affect the story at all, but I think it was enough for some people to start regarding them as just another regular monster like the Sontarans or the Cybermen

They were used too much in the sense that less is definitely more with the Weeping Angels. If we’d have had a really solid break between Blink and another Angels episode they would still have been terrifying. 

Also the stories they appeared in subsequently really destroyed the mystery of the weeping angels. The Series 5 story was pretty solid and I enjoyed the Whittaker era story too. Manhattan was hot garbage.

Why do people say the Angels were used too much? The only Angel-based stories I remember in Moffat's run were Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, and Angels Take Manhattan. 

I agree that the Angels were victims of some questionable writing choices, however I certainly don't think they were used too much.

Absolutely. Prior to that I imagined they were looking something terrifying and forced back into the "humble" statue form on viewing.

Agree. Blink was absolutely flawless. Then Moffat used them way too much and destroyed the lore. We also saw them move which should never have happened.

They should have left the Angels alone after Blink.  They did not need expanding one, well not in the way they were.  Blink was a great stand alone episode.

The Angel retcons are really annoying and sometimes don't make sense at all. Even when they try explaining it it doesn't always entirely make sense either. So everything after Blink I kinda just forget because they make the angels needlessly complicated and a lot less intimidating. In my opinion, at least

Sally only knew what to say because the Doctor had the transcript. The Doctor only had the transcript because Larry wrote it while watching Sally speak to the Doctor

Wouldn't this be a paradox and the angels would have get stronger cuz of the paradox

There’s a fan theory that the angels in blink originally appeared because sally had the images of them and then when she gave them to the doctor they came out and sent him and Martha back to the 60s.

That’s because the angels were a great one off villain but make literally zero sense on the slightest bit of extra thought.

Another thing I noticed while rewatching The Time of Angels is that angels are looking at each other for most of the two episode story but can still move somehow even though that was a huge deal on Blink and the whole way the doctor saved them

My working theory is that the image does not become a new angel – it's not some kind of asexual reproduction. More like, an existing angel can connect to it. 

So in Time of Angels, the "screen angel" is actually Angel Bob – the only angel we know to be active. 

This could be explained better – but to be fair to Moffat, he tends to prioritise making the episode work emotionally, rather than getting bogged down in exposition.

Assuming that there needs to be a nearby angel with a reason to "invade" the image goes some way to solving the issues with the statue of liberty.

Moffat likes to throw things out there that he knows are fantastical, impossible, and stupid just for the reaction.  The Manhattan episode has some great moments, but the Statue of Liberty part was a bridge too far.  We all know that Kill the Moon was spoiled by a very dumb ending.  There are other examples, notably in some of the Cyberman episodes.

RTD does this too, mind you, he just doesn’t take things quite so far.

I think I probably hate that one line as much as half of this sub hates the Timeless Child arc.

The Weeping Angels were perfect. Their abilities were simple, well-defined, and terrifying. Then the writers started tinkering. I can accept that an Angel can snap your neck and steal your voice. After all, realistically, they need some way to communicate. The image of an Angel thing is just very poorly implemented, though. How long does it take? Does it only happen if you’re looking at a live video of an Angel? What about a photograph of an Angel? Can a photo (somehow) become an Angel? 

I’m probably overreacting, but it was just such an unnecessary addition.

Maybe the distinction is contextual to the creation: A drawing of an angel that you made from memory has no connection to an angel, but if you actually capture an image of an angel that is in front of you that’s the image that can become an angel 

And we just have to assume the person who wrote the book with no pictures of the Angels did not know that

If an image of a weeping angel is a weeping angel wouldn’t there already be an angel inside of the TARDIS because of the images Sally Sparrow gave the Doctor at the end of Blink

That which holds an image of an angel becomes itself an angel
