The Diverging Heart
You are a paradox
You soothe my heart
Yet, I am gifted heartburn
You're like a symphony of symphonies
Yet, I am struck by a cacophony of screams
I've spent countless nights wishing for
...
A sweet reprieve
I've wished so viciously for peace-of-mind
Alas, you still shackle me
Or? Are you perhaps what sets me free
Truly. Truly, I wish to not care
Yet, I do. Truly. Truly.
...
Truly. I do.
Nothing compares in causing confusion in me
You, it all pales in comparison to you
Towering above me, my mild-mannered Goliath
You confuse me
You confound me
...
You astound me
And so, I circle around you, my Apathetic beauty
How? can you make me forget my own name
This flowing name, gifted by my mother
My name, that which means thirst
I am not me, the destiny of my name says
...
It tells me: " You are the Need,
the Glamour that entrances desert-travelers,
the Desperation between lovers who are to never meet again.
What shall you do now?"
But I turn my back to it, reject myself
All I wish for is to hold you, embrace you
...
Wake next to you, in hazy beams of Morning's rays
Not a word, yet we speak so loudly, the skies shake
I want to be the one to wipe your tears
I want to be the one to soothe you in Dreams
Why shouldn't we?
I'm right here. I'm right here. I'm right here.
...

I just want to start off by saying that this is an absolutely beautiful poem. Kudos to you! I took this poem as the juxtaposition between love and hate. You contrasted “a symphony of symphonies” to a “cacophony of screams”, so I took this as a love-hate relationship. The part of the poem that struck me the most was “I want to be the one to wipe your tears, I want to be the one to soothe you in Dreams” because it shows that even though this relationship is causing you distress, the love that you have for this person is is profound beyond all measure.
Thank you so much! You have no idea how gratifying it is to see someone understand my intent and stateofmind at the time of writing so perfectly. Any criticisms?
